A Five bedroom townhouse in Provence – with swimming pool
L’Amandine is a five bed roomed townhouse for ten people in Bargemon, one of the villages and towns hugging the vast escarpment stretching from east of Grasse to the west of Draguignan in the Department of Var, in Provence, Southern France. The house faces south looking down the valley over the village of Claviers surrounded by forests towards the Massif des Maures and the Mediterranean in the distance.
Like most of the villages on this escarpment, the houses are built on a south facing slope and L’Amandine is no exception being built on five levels the fifth level being a swimming pool enclosed by railings to comply with recent French laws regarding pool safety. Entrance is achieved at street level into a vestibule and long dining room stretching to a balcony overlooking the valley and the village of Claviers in the distance. On the same level is the sitting room with a stone fireplace and again a balcony overlooking Claviers where one can sit outside having breakfast. Adjacent to this room is the master bedroom with trompe-l’oeil wallpaper again with the same views down the valley. The other rooms on this level are an ensuite bathroom with a beautiful ornate mirror and rolled top bath and the main kitchen. Features of the rooms at this level are the high ceilings. Above this floor in the attic are three double bedrooms reached by a spiral staircase with velux windows and sun blinds in the roof space. On the floor below the street level is the fifth double bedroom with again the same views overlooking Claviers and the second bathroom. On the fourth level are a large summer kitchen and an equally large family room with snooker table. A feature of both these rooms is the high vaulted ceilings. Tall double doors in each room lead out into the garden with bougainvillea, hibiscus, olive, fig and bamboo trees. A charcoal barbecue is in the garden. The garden can be illuminated at night. The enclosed swimming pool with seating area takes up the fifth or lowest level again facing down the valley. During excavation of the pool several Roman coins and the existence of a well were found.
Booking Conditions & Rental Cost 2010
The rent includes all services except the cost of heating during the months of October to April inclusive. Cleaning cost at the end of your stay is required for an additional charge of € 150.

We ask for half the rent at the time of booking and the balance six weeks before the start of your holiday. If booking is within 6 weeks of arrival we require full payment at the time of booking. We also require a € 400 deposit against damages as a separate payment which should be sent at the time of making final payment. All telephone charges, breakages, etc. will be made against the deposit and the balance returned to you. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. In order to have time to check the house, change beds, clean the pool and tidy the garden etc. we ask guests to arrive between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and to leave at 10.00 a.m. on the day of departure.
In case of cancellation, the reservation deposit will be retained unless we can re-let or the whole payment if six weeks or less before the start of your intended stay. If we can re-let our additional expenditure, including advertising, will be deducted and the rest returned to you. We would therefore strongly advise you to take out holiday insurance, which covers cancellation.
